Trump - The World's Most Controversial President, Ever
February 09, 2018Donald J Trump,
President of the United States of America, 2017-Present. In November 2016, the
citizens of America voted Trump as their President, with his main rival being
Hilary Clinton. American politics is almost as popular on the news as British
politics, and it was heavily reported on up and until the election. The two
candidates were at each other’s necks on a daily basis; if it wasn’t Hilary
being accused of X, Y and Z, then Trump had apparently said this, that and the
other.
Technically, Hilary
won the election because she was the more popular candidate - she won majority
of votes - but Trump scooped the position because of the voting process in
America (the voting system in America, the Electoral College System, is rather
outdated, and confusing too. It’s a points based system and depending on the
size of the area of each state, their number of points varies. Trump won the
larger states such as Florida (29 points) and Pennsylvania (20 points). As he
won these larger states, he won more points.) Trump won election with 304
votes, in comparison to Clinton’s 227.
Trump has created a
massive controversy within America, and further afield too, even across the
pond. He has provoked thoughts and sparked debates with his outspoken behaviour
and opinionated comments. Trump and social media are a match made in HELL - any
time he takes to Twitter, it forever backfires. I reckon that Trump just
doesn’t think before he speaks sometimes, or perhaps he just doesn’t care if he
offends people. Either way, he always makes such strong comments. One comment
he made which offended people worldwide was the wall that he wanted to build
between Mexico and America, but he was demanding Mexico to pay for the wall.
Absolute madness.
Personally, I believe
that Trump only says these comments to shock people, and to grab the media’s
attention. Seriously, when was the last time you switched the news on and you
didn’t see Trump? Sure, he is extreme with his thoughts and plans, which
sometimes I don’t think he even has the intention to carry out with, again
hoping to spark debate, but with all that aside, I don’t feel that Trump is a
bad person with negative intentions.
You may think I’m
going mad, but in all seriousness, he is not a dangerous person. He does not
have dangerous intentions. He isn’t setting out to purposely hurt people. No.
He is all mouth. Of course, I do not agree with every statement he makes. Think
about how many different ideas he has suggested, and then they become buried
under the sand. The amount of petitions I’ve seen people creating to try and
ban Trump from the country. Are you crazy? America and the UK are good allies,
which establishes our trade links and economically, it benefits us. Keeping
this close link relationship is crucial, and by trying to ban him is just
ridiculous. Remember June 2016? Yes? We voted to leave the EU, just in case you
have forgotten already. Thousands has been spend on negotiating treaties and
forming trade links for when we officially leave. My worry is that some
countries might not agree to these agreements and want zilch to do with us.
Nada. Adios. Worse case scenario, say this happened. And, to top things off, we
banned Trump from the UK. Then what happens? Trump wants nothing to do with us.
We end up a small island, isolated. Now, that’s a scary thought.
I guess that Trump is
like marmite - you either love him, or you hate him. Many Americans absolutely
adore the ground he walks on and worship him, meanwhile others despise his
guts and would do anything to banish his position as President. If I’m honest,
on the run up to the election, I thought Hilary was the more popular candidate;
people supported her because she was a female candidate (of all 45 American
Presidents, there has never been one female President), they were a Democrat
party supporter and were fond of her plans. So what happened? She was exposed
for an email scandal, and this saw her lose a lot of support, some of which
ended up voting for Trump.

2016, Trump won the title of President, and was inaugurated into the White
House on Friday 20th January 2017. I’ll admit it, I didn’t think Trump would
last quite as long as he has, because there has been numerous threats of
assassination, as well as a few attempts too. The next scheduled Presidential
election is Tuesday, 3rd November 2020. To say the least, I am intrigued to see
whether Trump will be re-elected or not.

The electoral college is not 'outdated.' It makes sure that smaller states aren't swamped by the voting blocs in more populous states. The states in the United States have a vast amount of rights to keep the federal government at bay; the first ten amendments to the US Constitution, known as the bill of rights, enumerates the rights of citizens AND of individual states against the power of an overarching federal government.
ReplyDeleteYou should do an update of Brexit, and how your politicians are trying to undo it. After all the stuff going on in the UK, like putting people in jail for what they post on Facebook, I thank God we have a Bill of Rights!
Thank you for your comment, I respect and value your varying opinion.
